Multi-faceted creative Jean Paul Paula shows us around his favourite fetish party.

JeanPaul Paula wears a lot of different hats for

work. He is an artist, creative director, film director,

photographer, model, and performance artist. Oh, and he just started his own talent agency for LGBTQA+ individuals of colour. How come his resume is so full? “I have many shapes that I can fit myself into,” JeanPaul explains over email. “The different disciplines that I have mastered over the years are all an extension of me. Being a creative director I get to use my talents over a larger scope of medium, allowing me to think withthe people that I work with as well as making whatever we are working on work of quality”.

All this work would suggest there is little in the way of downtime, but JeanPaul insists most of his work is fun. That said, he doesn’t mix business with pleasure, “unless that is part of the project”. Pleasure is the name of the game at Wasteland, a long-running fetish event in Amsterdam and Berlin, where Crotch photographed JeanPaul. “It’s part of the Amsterdam DNA with veins running deep into the Dutch fetish and open-minded scene,” he explains. “Wasteland Summerfest is held

at the IJdijk. It’s a daytime festival so the vibe is quite friendly and happy even though the theme is post- apocalyptic Mad Max. The crowd is very mixed and open to all genders and sexualities, as long as it is fetish minded. The whole premise of Wasteland is to take fetish out of the dark corners out in the open, so you’ll have a good mix of people.”
